Super Results Require Super Planning and Execution
Did you see the Super Bowl last Sunday? What a fun game to watch. I was impressed with the execution displayed by each team, and the exceptional leadership of the respective quarterbacks. Both Peyton Manning and Drew Brees played almost flawlessly....almost.
This game was more or less decided when Manning, who is sure to go down in history as one of the best NFL quarterbacks of all time, made an ill-timed pass that was returned for a touchdown by the Saints. One play. One bad decision. That’s all it took to spoil an otherwise sterling performance and allow New Orleans to win their first ever Super Bowl. Congratulations to the Saints, their city and fans have waited a long time for this, and certainly deserve it.

What this game made me think about was the importance leadership and vision in developing a good game plan, and the players required to successfully implement it. Each one of these assets is no good with out the others. Both the Colts and the Saints have exceptional leaders at the quarterback position, guys who are clearly better than most of their peers in the league.
These same characteristics that allowed both teams to reach the Super Bowl can be found in the leaders and employees of many companies around the world. And it is often a key factor in determining if those businesses will succeed or fail. Teams, and companies, need leaders that can look several steps ahead and forecast what needs to be done in order to get where they want to go. But those leaders need teammates or employees to implement that plan and enable the team or company to achieve those goals.
At TEAM A.T.E. we feel like we have both. Our leadership has made key strategic moves over the years to position us as one of the most respected companies in the used/refurbished equipment market. Our employees are dedicated to understanding customer’s needs and motivations, and then offering creative options. Like anyone we’ve made some mistakes over the years, but we’ve always learned from them and taken steps to make sure we are a better company because of them. We’ve been in business for twenty four years now and have seen many changes in our industry. What has not changed are the key principles by which we do business: creativity, integrity and performance.
While your team may have not made it to the Super Bowl this year (as a Rams fan, mine has a ways to go before they will get there again!), but we can all learn something by the characteristics displayed by the teams that did. Leadership, teamwork and execution. Qualities that we strive to integrate into what we do every day.
